Dr. de Baca received her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition from Iowa State University of Science & Technology, then her medical degree from Universidad del Salvador in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She completed a residency in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology and a fellowship in Hematopathology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. She is board certified in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology and in Hematopathology.
Dr. de Baca’s experiences include years of anatomic and clinical pathology practice in both community and hospital settings, medical directorships of CAP accredited high complexity laboratories and academic associations and director roles in hematopathology. She is active in the College of American Pathologists, having participated in the SNOMED International Editorial Board, co-authored CAP Cancer Checklists, and was a founding co-chair of the Pathology Electronic Reporting Taskforce (PERT). She is the current President of the Association for Pathology informatics and is active in the CAP Informatics Committee, CAP Informatics Leadership Committee and CLIA Advisory Committee. Her interest in reporting is related to a multi-lingual life: in addition to her experiences in Argentina, Dr. de Baca is trained and boarded in Ophthalmology (Land Brandenburg, German). Understanding communication complexities and improving communication channels facinates her.
